Drink now or cellar for up to 9 years. Serve chilled. Champagne Laherte is a great example of a small family-run house that’s producing excellent value Grower Champagnes with impressive quality and attention to detail. The winery itself was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte and today is in the hands of the seventh generation of the family, represented by winemaker Aurélien. In total the Lahertes have 9 hectares of vines which are distributed across 70 different parcels, giving Aurélien plenty of freedom to craft unique cuvees which capture the character of the local terroir. The family’s vineyards are primarily planted with Pinot Meunier which attains a special beauty in the area around Épernay and Chavot where the winery is based. Wherever possible the family insists on working their land in harmony with nature, and many of the plots are farmed biodynamically to help preserve them for future generations. This elegant rosé Champagne is crafted from 100% Pinot Meunier which gives it a vibrant deep salmon hue and punchy structure. The grapes are sourced from older vines planted limestone and clay soils with a very low dosage added before the bottle is corked to allow the terroir to shine through. Delicate red fruits and hints of vanilla spice define the nose while the first sip reveals a bright freshness, smooth bubbles and a pure and clean finish with a hint of minerality.
