ABOUT THE WINEThe Réva winery in Monforte d'Alba dates back to 1867, but its modern era began in 2013, under the ownership of Miroslav Lekes from the Czech Republic. He appointed Gianluca Colombo as oenologist, and has worked tirelessly to perfect the wines produced on the small 7.5-hectare estate, while also seeking to improve sustainability. Vineyard practice is 100% organic. The 'cru' of Lazzarito belongs to the famed and picturesque village of Serralunga d'Alba. The wine is made through spontaneous fermentation and in traditional Austrian oak botti for 40 days. It further ages for 36 months in similar botti, followed by 2 years of ageing in the bottle before the final release.TASTING NOTESA robust expression of Barolo, this single vineyard wine shows dazzling intensity of balsamic cherry and pomegranate fruit along with a clean fragrant herb bouquet of sage and rosemary. The weight of the earthy tar and reduced plum sauce lingers on extensively into the finish, making this a brilliantly supple and unctuous wine. A total of 2,000 bottles were produced.FOOD PAIRINGWild Boar sausage and fresh egg pasta with shaved black or preferably white seasonal Piemontese truffles. A divine wine requiring divine, fresh ingredients.FRIARWOOD SAYSBest cellared for a few more years, and be drinking well, and still steadily improving, from 2025 onwards. From the Lazzarito cru vineyard.
