Pierre Guillaume 20.1 Sorong Eau de Parfum 50 ml is a unisex leather perfume.
Of all the materials, incense is undoubtedly, because of its history and the religious symbols associated with it, the one that most fascinates the perfumer. Its woody, mineral and slightly spicy odour lends a mystical dimension, a sacred aspect to any composition. In antiquity, it was considered more precious than gold, and the incense routes from the Arabian kingdoms to the gates of Indonesia have participated in the fortunes of entire civilisations. In 2009, I composed a fresh plant incense in which the animality of aloe wood responded to the bitterness of cinchona bark. I called it ''L'eau Guerriere'' (Warrior Water), recalling that ancient divinatory ceremonies, based on incense, were often used to predict the outcome of military manoeuvres... Ten years later, here I am again on the road to incense with an extraordinary material as my starting point, inspired by the combustion fumes of Indonesia's oud shavings: Kyara Wood.''

- THE FRAGRANCE: At once mineral and burning its scent, 20.1 Sorong Eau de Parfum 50 ml is an ''animalised smoke'' and tuning it to incense resin seemed a no-brainer. Benzoin, Ciste, Elemi, Fenugreek, Cypress, Gaiac, Iris, Labdanum, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Ginger and Nagarmotha, 12 natural raw materials were the instruments of this union. It took the power of a citrus, saffron and blackcurrant propellant to set in motion and give an olfactory trail to the woody-ambery and spicy 'cocoon' thus created. The mystical and almost magical nature of one responds to the technological nature of the other. Sorong is both vibrant and monolithic. If it seems to possess the power and brilliance of a laser, paradoxically it gives the wearer the feeling of being protected by an aura, an invisible, protective force. Sorong is a talisman, its sillage an olfactory armour.

- THE NAME: The city of SORONG is a seaport in Indonesia that was involved in the frankincense trade with Oman.
