In the second round of the year, Ferrari’s normal line-up of Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz Jr. was changed – as the latter was forced out due to illness. Who to step up but Britain’s future star – Oliver Bearman. The current F2 driver is the test and reserve driver for both Haas & Ferrari, and when Carlos Sainz had to pull out due to Appendicitis, Fred Vasseur asked Ollie to replace the Spanish star. Bearman was in Jeddah for the F2 round – and having already qualified on pole, he pulled out in order to fully focus on the F1 race ahead of him. As he was only drafted in on Saturday, he only FP3 to get acquainted with the car ahead of qualifying. The inexperienced Brit performed incredibly admirably. He qualified in 11th place, missing out on Q3 by just 0.04 of a second. During the race, Bearman maneuvered his car excellently, making some incredible overtakes on the likes of Nico Hulkenberg & Yuki Tsunoda. He went on to finish in 7th place, ahead of both
