Vaniqa cream is an easy to apply topical treatment for hirsutism particularly on the face and chin region. Containing the active ingredient Eflornithine, it is applied twice a day to help treat excessive facial hair growth. The cream is suitable for use by all female patients that are 19 years old or over. How does it work? The cream actively slows down hair growth in the areas applied. Therefore reducing the frequency of other forms of management (e.g. waxing or threading). Secondly as the hair is thinner, management often causes less pain too. Usually patients will notice the effects of the cream within 8 weeks but treatment should be continued for up to four months to be certain. If no benefit is seen after 4 months it should be stopped. If the treatment is successful then it is safe to continue using it to control symptoms. If you stop applying the cream, hair will usually grow back within 8 weeks. The cream is NOT SUITABLE for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. P.S. 2019
