The Gaja wine company is one of the most famous in the world. In 1859 the winery in Barbaresco was founded by Giovanni Gaja. Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of the current owner, Angelo Gaja. About 300.000 bottles of wine are produced annually and the vineyard covers 92 hectares.Tasting notes:Sparkling ruby garnet in the glass. In the nose intense with excellent fruit content. Versatile, balanced bouquet with notes of cherries, tar, truffle and liquorice. Long lasting finish. Grape varieties: 94% Nebbiolo, 6% Barber. Aging: Steel tank, 12 months in barrique and 12 months in large oak barrels. Soil: marl, lime. Drinking temperature: 16-18°C. Storage potential: Until 2029. For the perfect pleasure the Gaja Sperss should be decanted. The red wine goes very well with beef fillet and ox marrow crust.
