The Gaja wine company is one of the most famous in the world. In 1859 the winery in Barbaresco was founded by Giovanni Gaja. Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of the current owner, Angelo Gaja. About 300.000 bottles of wine are produced annually and the vineyard covers 92 hectares. Awards: - 97 points from Falstaff - 94 points from Wine SpectatorTasting notes:Ruby red in the glass. On the nose and on the palate, the wine appears with a strong body and noticeable tannin content. Aromas of cinnamon and various herbs. Long lasting and harmonious finish. Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo. Aging: Steel tank, 12 months in barrique and 12 months in large oak barrels. Soil: marl, lime. Closure: Natural cork. Storage potential: Until 2031 and longer. Drinking temperature: 18-20°C. The red wine goes very well with game dishes.
