The Gaja wine company is one of the most famous in the world. In 1859 the winery in Barbaresco was founded by Giovanni Gaja. Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of the current owner, Angelo Gaja. About 300.000 bottles of wine are produced annually and the vineyard covers 92 hectares. In the nose very strong, compact and masculine. Aromas of tar, liquorice and ripe fruit are in the foreground. On the palate silky and full, with very dense tannins. Very long lasting and harmonious finish. Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo. Vinification: Barrique and large wooden barrel. Closure: Natural cork. Storage potential: Until 2040 and longer. Drinking temperature: 18-20°C. The red wine goes very well with hearty dishes like pasta and pizza.
