Caol Ila (pronounced "Cull Eela") is Gaelic for "The Sound of Islay", the strait that separates the Hebridean islands of Islay and Jura.Somewhat hidden on the rugged east coast, the islanders have been making fine smoky whiskies there since 1846.The barley used is still malted in Port Ellen, the pure spring water comes from the nearby Loch Nam Ban limestone.In summer 2010, Diageo launched this special Caol Ila on the market.Limited edition: 6000 bottles!Tasting notes:Colour: Amber.Nose: Complex, smoky, intense, liquorice, vanilla, freshly mown grass.Taste: Rich, creamy, notes of toffee, caramel and leather.Finish: Long lasting, fine, sweetish, leather.
