Sarcococca saligna is easily recognised by its arching branches covered in slender leaves that measure up to 14cm in length and provide excellent evergreen colour all year round. Tiny, spidery white blooms with purple tips will decorate this shrub in winter, and although inconspicuous, their spicy, vanilla fragrance will certainly capture your attention and attract plenty of early pollinating insects. Shiny purple berries will follow the flowers, adding further interest and providing a source of food for the birds. Sarcococca saligna is a slow-growing variety that can be grown as a low, evergreen hedge and will thrive in full shade, as long as the soil is moist. Height: 1m (39in). Spread: 2m (6.5ft).
