A relatively slow-growing black pine with open, upright branches which form a pyramidal tree bearing small, 10cm long cones. Pinus nigra 'Oregon Green' produces masses of vivid green, slightly twisted needles, borne in pairs and measuring up to 12cm long. This conifer is extremely hardy and copes well in difficult soils, making it an ideal choice for tricky sites. Pinus nigra 'Oregon Green' will thrive in a warm, sunny spot and is wind, drought and salt spray tolerant. Great for coastal gardens where it makes an excellent windbreak or plant several trees together to create a shelterbelt. Height: 3m (10ft). Spread: 2m (6.5ft) in 10 years. Height at maturity: 6m (20ft). Spread: 4.5m (15 ft).
