Rhododendron 'Harvest Moon'

55

Rhododendron Harvest Moon, a Knap Hill hybrid, is a rarely encountered English breeding variety. If planted in ericaceous soil, it makes a lovely deciduous shrub for an acid border or large pot. In May, just as the leaves appear, trusses of delicately fragrant, trumpet-shaped, sunset yellow-orange flowers bloom on bare stalks. The leaf starts off golden, then turns green in the summer before becoming red and bronze in the fall. Height and spread: 1.5m (5').
